C1 Hellebore Harmony

Lesson 1 Hellebore Harmony Part One

 INTRODUCTION

In this first Course you will have 3 Videos with a duration of approximately 3 hours 40 minutes of in depth watercolour tuition. You will be inspired to get started with this beautiful selection of images. It will show you the full process from start to finish and cover all the information that you will need to paint these beautiful Hellebores. Remember you can stop and start your videos at any time, and paint at your convenience.

You can copy and save these images to your computer and print out as required. I do suggest to use a good quality gloss photo paper to maximize the clarity of your image.

Lesson 1 Part 1

In this video I go through the Photo reference, Composition, and Thumbnail sketch. I talk about the materials I used and the choice of colours. Then I lay in the initial washes to establish your light areas and paint in some mid tones, starting at the top and working your way down, after the washes are dry.

Lesson 1 Hellebore Harmony Part Two

In this second video, we continue on, starting at the top and slowly progressing down. I keep adding the mid tones and some darks, and you get to see all the colour mixes and the brush selection for everything as I continue on.

Lesson 1 Hellebore Harmony Part Three

In video three I continue painting, starting at the top always, when the previous stages are completely dry. I am now adding the darks and some detail. I wait till parts are dry enough to go back and refine the detail in all the flower centres, petal veins and leaves. Now I double check to see what other jewelry the painting needs, such as spatter and highlights etc, before finishing.

Lesson 1 Hellebore Harmony summary

Painting floral paintings work best using multiple photos to compile your composition. This always makes your painting unique to you. Double and triple check your drawing before starting to paint.

A quick note of importance.

I'm sure you know but just in case you aren't aware , please remember that all teaching videos and studies done in any class (not just mine) are for educational purposes only. What does that mean? The teacher/artist is showing their method, thoughts, and learning, allowing a student to try it to test and become familiar with the concept, the process or idea. It therefore is not the student's original thought or creation and must not be reproduced or presented as their own creation. That would be a breach of copyright. It is a courtesy to sign it on the back as your study of ...  the teacher's name by  your name.

This is one of the first signs and way of honouring the original unaided creations of an artist. The same respect will be given to any artist who signs their name on an artwork. It is the signature that claims it as their original creation.

I look forward to you moving forward from these lesson studies, using the concepts learned, adding them to your own ideas and discoveries and creating your own personal artwork. It's a fun thing and keeps creatives hooked on the possibilities that each of you can make.

Happy painting......
